Self-employed as a photographer - what are your tasks

As a photographer you do both outdoor and studio photography. This is mainly in the areas of advertising, fashion, architecture, industry, science, landscape, reportage and portrait. The lighting is crucial. You know your equipment exactly and can prepare yourself for the respective situations. You know which shooting material and which camera including lens are best suited for the respective shooting conditions. You choose the type of lighting, set up the lighting and photograph your subject. You often take series of pictures, e.g. with different lenses, from different camera angles or under different lighting conditions. You also edit the photographs, retouching, enlarging or duplicating them.

History of photography

The digital revolution

The use of more and more electronics made cameras increasingly convenient over time. In 1963, the Canon company introduced the first camera with automatic focus adjustment. This was followed around ten years later by a fully electronic camera from Rollei that could automatically adjust aperture, shutter speed and focus.
Towards the end of the 20th century, the entire photographic technology was then revolutionized once again by digitization. Now it was possible to store photos on digital media rather than on film. This is cheap and simplifies the handling of the image. It can be viewed directly and, if necessary, deleted immediately.
Image editing software facilitates subsequent editing and thus makes it possible to correct errors in the photo. Today, anyone can touch up or manipulate their images with the help of suitable software. In addition, the Internet simplifies the worldwide exchange of images, which are now available as files.
