Do you have a move planned soon?

Are you planning to move in the near future?
You have planned to move at the end of March and have now noticed that it will be difficult to coordinate the acceptance date of the old apartment and the handover date of the new apartment because you can only take over the new apartment later. So where does all the furniture and moving boxes go? You may have to move from a house or a larger apartment to a smaller apartment and your furniture no longer fits in the new rooms. You are welcome to temporarily store your things in our storage rooms to bridge the time until the move.

We offer flexible and inexpensive solutions for these cases. Our large selection of rooms offers you the opportunity to rent your ideal storage space. Our storage rooms are between 4m² and 18m² in size and have a ceiling height of 2.5m. Our hobby rooms are even up to 38m² in size and can also be used as storage space. Safety is also very important to us. With our reliable electronic locking system and security cameras distributed throughout the building, we can guarantee that nobody but our ROOM4U users can enter the building. The notice period is only two weeks. You can also store your furniture and moving boxes clean and dry in our rooms. We have the right room for every need.

A move means a lot of effort, whether you are single, a couple or a family. Many are not aware at the beginning of how much work awaits you when you move. If you don't start planning early enough, moving day can get pretty chaotic. To prevent this from happening to you, we have put together a few tips below. This way you can prepare well and avoid the typical mistakes. If you read on, you will get the most important moving tips.

Tips and tricks for a smooth move
Clarify early enough with your administration when the apartment handover date for the new apartment will take place and with your former landlord when you have to hand over the terminated apartment at the latest. If you are unsure what needs to be done in the apartment, we recommend that you ask your manager or landlord. Most of the time, the administrations have very good checklists that can help you. If you have a private landlord and he does not have such a checklist, then we have found a good online checklist for you: https://www.raiffeisen.ch/casa/de/suchen/immobilienkauf/checkliste-umzug- home.html

Important information about handing over the apartment
• In principle, an apartment must always be handed over in an impeccable and clean condition.
• If there are complaints about the cleanliness of the apartment when the apartment is handed over, you as the tenant are liable, even if a cleaning company has been commissioned. It is therefore recommended that a representative of the company is present at the time of delivery. You should also have the most important cleaning utensils at hand.
• All keys must be handed over when the apartment is handed over. If an apartment key is missing, all cylinders with the same locking must be replaced at your expense.
• Nicotine coatings on the walls are always at the expense of the tenant.
• The tenant is responsible for deregistering from authorities and telephone/multimedia providers.
• The appointment for the inspection of the apartment should be agreed with the management at least 2 weeks in advance.
• If you have any questions or are unclear, the responsible manager or landlord will be happy to help you

Additional tips for cleaning
• Ventilation covers and grilles can usually be removed for cleaning purposes.
• Radiators, heater and water lines can be cleaned with warm, light soapy water.
• Chewing gum stains can be removed with dry or normal ice in a plastic bag.
• Wax stains can be removed by placing a piece of blotting paper or kitchen roll on the stain and ironing over it with an iron.
• Vinegar can be used for descaling.
• Adhesive residues can easily be removed by heating a hair dryer or with white spirit from the drugstore.
• Oil paint bases, woodwork and window frames can be cleaned by working with warm, light soapy water.
• Silicone joints in windows, bathrooms, washbasins, kitchen washbasins, etc. must be cleaned of any mold and removed.

Store furniture in ROOM4U
You are welcome to use our trucks to store your furniture and moving boxes. These are available to you free of charge at all locations. So you don't have to haul the heavy things yourself and you can easily drive them to your rented storage room.
Store your furniture and boxes carefully: With the right furniture storage, all large and heavy things go to the back and bottom, smaller and lighter items to the front and top. Pack furniture and antiques correctly: Wrap your furniture as completely as possible with suitable packaging materials to protect it from dust and dirt. Especially secure the edges of your delicate furniture with a cardboard box. Beauty is not necessary in packaging. Functionality is much more important! Breathable packaging materials are blankets and paper packaging. In this way, storage objects are not sealed airtight. This is a more suitable choice for wooden furniture, as the wood can still work and adapt to the new climatic conditions.

If you have any further questions about our available rooms, please feel free to contact us. We are happy to help and advise you without obligation - also directly on site. But pay attention to our opening hours, these may vary depending on the location. Otherwise, we are always available for questions by email. Email: info@room4u.ch
